The digital age is upon us, and the world today is much smaller than it was a century ago. Gone are the days where strength in arms dictated the might of an individual or a nation. Today, success and strength are wielded by those in control of sharing the information. And it is this power that spearheads both individual and collective growth from a seedling with an idea, into a global presence with major stakes in the international market
The ICT Superhighway has penetrated its roots into every aspect of our daily living. From mobile telecommunication to Global Positioning Satellites (GPS), Email and Internet, our constant usage and reliance upon these systems has rendered them into one of mankind's most prized and most rapidly evolving assets.
But is it for everyone? Or more appropriately, can it be afforded by everyone?
The answer is YES. It must be. And it will be. It is the right of every Sri Lankan to have easy access to these platforms from the convenience of their offices or their homes. In this respect, it is my hope and prayer that PC House will act in the form of a catalyst in order to expedite the rapid distribution of these ICT solutions to people from all walks of life at an affordable price. With the recent global financial crisis, one can only expect costs to escalate in every sphere of trade and commerce, including ICT. However, here lies our challenge.
Despite the many barriers we shall face in the near future, I'm confident that in the next five years we, as a company possess the necessary strength and determination to rise above the rest and reach not just new heights in the ICT stream, but also conquer new thresholds in the corporate sector of Sri Lanka, as we endeavour to become one of the top five brands in South Asia breaking new ground in consistent product development and thereby taking the ICT technology of Sri Lanka to new heights and new frontiers.
It is a journey that is of immense personal pride and joy. And it is one which I'm pleased to share with you. The future is here.
